Ray Liotta, Ving Rhames & Christian Slater Join 'The River Sorrow'

The last time director Rich Cowan was at the helm of a feature film was way back in 2004 with the forgettable "Shadow Of Fear." Yet, momentum for his return has been helped with the christening of a rather strong cast with Variety reporting that Ray Liotta, Ving Rhames and Christian Slater are all signed on to his new detective-thriller, "The River Sorrow."

Since 2004, Cowan has remained in production wilderness. But, intriguingly his last credit was helping fellow long-term absentee John Carpenter produce his feature comeback post-"Ghost of Mars" picture with" The Ward." A connection perhaps, or just coincidence? Maybe Carpenter gave a few words of encouragement to Cowan to get back in the saddle.

While details are a little sketchy at this stage, what is known is that 'Sorrow,' will follow Liotta as a detective in hot pursuit of a serial killer. Slater will fill the role of an FBI agent overseeing the case while Rhames fulfills the role of Liotta's friend and captain.
Scripted by Steve Anderson (no previous credits on IMDB), 'Sorrow' will begin shooting next week in Washington. -- Matt Richardson
