Danny Elfman's Scores For Tim Burton Get Lavish, Limited Box Set Treatment

While Danny Elfman can at times sound like a pale imitation of himself, when he's on top of his game, his scores are very exciting stuff and his early scores with longtime collaborator Tim Burton on films like "Beetlejuice," "Batman," and "Edward Scissorhands" were a breath of fresh air at the time and still remain excellent pieces of work.

In order to commemorate their 25 year history together, Warner Bros. is issuing the mother of all box sets. Spanning 16 discs, this limited edition set (there will only be 1,000 of them made) will not only give you Elfman's soundtracks to each of his films to date with Tim Burton, it will also include rarities such as additional masters, cut songs, song and score demos, work tapes, orchestra-only song mixes, and foreign-language songs. And that's not all, it will all come housed in the fancy pants box you see pictured above, which will also include a hardcover book "Danse Macabre: 25 Years of Danny Elfman and Tim Burton" with a foreword by Johnny Depp, an hour long DVD with Burton and Elfman discussing their history together and other various goodies.

The box will be made available starting in December but if you want to make sure you get one, place your pre-order now. The box will set you back $499. [Collider]
