Joss Whedon Wouldn't Mind Making 'Glengarry Glen Ross' With Cast Of 'The Avengers'

Starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Don Cheadle as War Machine and Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson you wouldn't be alone in thinking this kind of cast should be doing something a bit more exciting than running around in tights together in "The Avengers." Looks like you're not the only one.

In an interview with SFX, Joss Whedon in describing the challenge of making a comic film that is both fun and smart, jokes that he'd just as soon give the cast the script to David Mamet's "Glengarry Glen Ross."
“What I will struggle with, in the outline and throughout, is that I would like to put these actors in a room and just make Glengarry Glen Ross,” says Whedon. “We’re talking about really exciting people and at the same time I have to keep the momentum of the thing going. I can’t let it turn into a lull fest."

As much as we might wish for a David Mamet scripted comic movie that will never happen, we'll just have to see what Whedon himself comes up with. "The Avengers" starts filming next year and will hit theaters on May 4, 2012. Now if you don't mind, we will go to lunch.
